Jabari Sekou, known as Masta Jas on stage, is a Professional Percussionist with 38 years of experience playing the DJembe Drum, Congo’s, Bongos, Timbales, Shekeres and many other instruments. His motto regarding percussion instruments is "if it makes noise, I play it!" He is a Master Conguero and Djembefola in a variety of music genres such as Afro-Cuban; Jazz; R&B; Techno-Lounge; Caribbean and Gospel. His ambient smooth groove style is a compliment to any musical compilation.

A former 15-year union musician Jabari has performed with many Gospel greats such as Walter Hawkins, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Richard Smallwood, The Winans, The Clark Sisters, and Commissioned. As a Jazz union musician he has performed with Sophra Objoe, George Howard, George Benson, Reggie Smith, The Braxton Brothers, Kim Waters, Garrett Perkins and Eric Frazier.

As a recording artist he has released two Jazz CD’s performing as the percussionist in the Jazz band “Blue 44”. His most recent CD percussion skills are featured on the CD “Allowyn Price Live! How Great & Awesome”, which includes gospel recording artist Lawrence Matthews among others.

Jabari has facilitated an awesome drum circle at Northridge Music in Citrus Heights. He teaches private African Drumming, Congo, Bongo & Percussion and has taught children African Drumming for the Folsom/Cordova Unified School District.
