I focus on repertoire that helps introduce beginning and intermediate students to a broad range of musical styles and genre, including traditional piano methods , jazz, ragtime, classical, blues, and certain popular pieces. Especially during the elementary stages, I emphasize note-reading and technique. With the intermediate students, I use theory/compositions workbooks and technical exercises, along with rhythm and sight-reading studies, in conjuction with both classical and popular repertoire. |
